A Store is Born
In January of 2002, Music Supply Closet opened its doors in the Kansas City suburb of Olathe, Kansas. Ralph Maddox, an educator with 25 years experience teaching K-12 music, is the owner. He is certified in all three levels of Orff Schulwerk and has taught in the Orff Certification course at University of Missouri Kansas City. His partner in the store is his daughter, Jennifer Maddox-Flynn, a certified Suzuki instructor. She has taught violin, piano, voice and conducted church choirs for over ten years. Ralph and Jennifer would be happy to chat with you about your music program.
Big Things Come In Small Packages
Our name, Music Supply Closet, says it all. Our retail location is small, but so is the overhead. As a result, we are able to offer very low prices on the instruments, books, music and equipment music teachers use every day. We only carry quality products that will last in a classroom environment. Our suppliers include some of the most respected names in the music industry such as Sonor, Remo, Latin Percussion, Yamaha, Schott/Hal Leonard Publishing, Alfred Publishing and Kid Sounds (Jeff Kriske and Randy DeLellis).
Still Small, But Growing
In April, 2007, we outgrew the two rooms at the 2111 E Santa Fe location. The shipping and receiving department stayed at the original location, but the store has moved across the parking lot to 2011 E Crossroads Lane, #306. The new location is still modest but it does have more room to display print music, classroom instruments and equipment. We also have studio space for private lessons and have added a department to provide band and orchestra instruments for students.
